Intro to Security Saturdays with Sriker

Hey everyone,

I’m excited to finally kick off a project that’s been on my vision board for quite some time: Security Saturdays with Sriker. This isn’t just a blog—it’s my way of combining my passion for teaching, my curiosity about cybersecurity, and my desire to contribute to a field that touches all of our lives in some way.

Why Am I Starting This Blog?

There are a few reasons:

  • First, I want to hold myself accountable for the things I’m learning. Cybersecurity is such a vast field, and it’s easy to get overwhelmed or lose track of progress. Writing helps me stay on course.

  • Second, I want to get better at expressing my thoughts. Teaching has always been an important part of my life, and I’ve realized that sharing knowledge helps me sharpen my own understanding.

  • Finally, I just want to do my part. Cybersecurity isn’t something that belongs only to experts or organizations—it’s a shared responsibility and a fundamental part of all our daily lives. As technology becomes more integrated into our daily lives, it’s important that we all understand how to protect ourselves and the people we care about.

While there are countless blogs and experts already out there writing and sharing their expertise, This series is about adding my voice to the mix and expressing what I learn in building awareness and contributing to the community.

Who Is This For?

In short: everyone.

Cybersecurity impacts all of us, no matter how tech-savvy or experienced we are. My goal is to reach people from all walks of life—whether you’re a student, a professional, or someone who’s simply curious about how the digital world affects your day-to-day life.

What Can You Expect?

Every week, I’ll publish two posts:

  1. A technical deep dive into intricate topics of programming, networking, administration, forensics, or other cybersecurity concepts (starting with the basics of course).

  2. A non-technical post, where I intend to explore the human side of cybersecurity, analyze historical case studies, or share my thoughts on current events shaping the field.

I believe that as we surround ourselves with more technology, we also need to build habits and practices that give us more control over it.

What’s important to me is bridging the gap between the digital and the real world. Cybersecurity isn’t just about hacking or data breaches—it’s about understanding the ripple effects of these issues and what they mean for individuals, communities, and society as a whole.

What’s Next?

I’m also working on a side project to create a dedicated website, where I’ll expand this idea into other series like:

  • Malware Mondays: A closer look at malicious software and what’s underneath the hood.

  • Threatpost Thursdays: Breaking down the latest news and trends in cybersecurity.

This is just the start, and I know I’ll learn a lot along the way. I invite you to join the journey, share your thoughts, ask questions, and contribute ideas.

Let’s Learn Together

If there’s one thing I’ve learned the hard way, it’s that cybersecurity isn’t a solo effort. It’s a team sport, and the more we share and support each other, the stronger we all become. So here’s to the start of something new.

Follow along for your weekly dose of Security Saturdays with Sriker!
